An exhibition curated by the Association Dalla Guerra alla Pace, on the occasion of the Day Against Women’s Violence.
A large video installation welcomes visitors to Fort Mezzacapo. Suspended along the corridors, for the first time exhibited, the ‘sound’ plates that mark the path through the side rooms where the approximately 700 original drawings are presented. The route ends with a wall where all the names of the victims are displayed.
“This work was created to remember and give back a face to the women victims of gender violence, so that they do not disappear as those who killed them wished,” writes the artist in the catalogue presentation, “and Femminicidio 2015-2022 is capable of awakening our consciences, revealing how gender violence is widespread, persistent and close to our everyday life. A violence based on the atavistic prejudice that sees within social and family relationships the man as the sole dominant subject.”
